In the rush to return to normal, consider which parts of normal are worth rushing back to.
-Dave Hollis

Growth and transformation do not come from comfort zones.  One thing is for sure, this has been a very uncomfortable time.  Being sequestered and cocooned in our homes, has filled us with uncertainty while  forcing us to find new ways of working, learning, and worshiping.  As a result, we are not the same as we were a few weeks ago.  Hopefully, we’ve gone through some sort of transformational growth that has equipped us and our families to be more:

Resilient
Compassionate
Patient
Resourceful
Thoughtful
Introspective
Discerning
Affectionate
Considerate
Prayerful

As our country and our communities slowly open up in the coming weeks, now is a good time to reflect on the ways your extended time at home has been transformational for your marriage and for your family.  What has worked surprisingly well?  What didn’t work and and what can you still change? Are there old ways of being and doing that you’ve outgrown?

 Quick Tips & Family Enrichment

  • How is your Screentime as a family?  We’ve all been on screens a great deal more.  However, you may be shocked to know exactly how much time you are spending online. Chances are you need to get screentime habits back in check.  For those that have attended our Screenagers Events, you know that games and social media can trigger the release of dopamine which can make us not want to stop.  Screens can also trigger the release of cortisol and cause us unneeded anxiety when we lose a game, see something that drives us crazy on social media or the news.  Get the kids involved in setting some boundaries and create a tech use game plan for your family.  Here are some great resources to help:

Digital Binging Is It a Problem? – It’s not difficult to lose self control

Digital Lesson PreK-Elementary – Finding balance

Digital Lesson Tweens & Teens – Health effects of Screentime
