As Christmas approaches and 2021 comes to an end, OneFamily had many significant accomplishments and blessings this year. Impacting families to keep their marriages strong and creating a thriving home environment with meaningful and practical parenting programs is at the heart of what we strive for every year. While there are many moving stories and situations that touched us this year, our journey with the Pulidos not only impacted us personally, but also our UnaFamilia Spanish initiative.
This past winter, we first met Sergio and Ximena Pulido when they attended our online Middle Years Parenting Class. Over the course of those 5 weeks, we got know this wonderful couple and they shared that they were pastors with a Spanish speaking church in Los Angeles and wondered if any of our programs were available in Spanish… and we said YES!!!
When we launched OneFamily with the Marrs in 2015, we had previously met with our now dear friends, Gary & Anne Marie Ezzo, to discuss our plans to translate the GFI curriculum into Spanish. With their blessing and wonderful encouragement, we began the journey to translate and produce the workbook series – Parenting from The Tree of Life / Criando a los hijos desde el árbol de la vida!
Since then, we’ve had limited success getting our UnaFamilia initiative fully established. That significantly changed this past spring. The impact of our zoom class on the Pulidos prompted them to reach out us to see if we could somehow bring this material to their Spanish speaking community. As a result, we launched our first bilingual online Parenting from The Tree of Life class with their church and sister church. With the Pulidos translating our presentation simultaneously in Spanish, we had nearly 90 parents join us online each week!
After our class had ended, the Pulidos hosted us for an in person get together at their church and the outpouring of appreciation and love was overwhelming! The life changing and meaningful transformations that occurred for many of these families made a lasting impact on us. While there are some cultural distinctions that differ from our English classes, one truth remains the same and has no cultural boundaries – All parents want a thriving family!
But that is not the end of our journey with the Pulidos! With their help and guidance, this summer we launched UnaFamilia on all our Social Media Platforms and began posting these weekly letters in Spanish on the UnaFamilia Section on our website! This fall they translated our Family Conversation Cards in to Spanish and are working to finalize the translation of the Protecting the Innocence of Childhood workbook for our next Online Bilingual class in 2022!
As 2021 comes to a close and we celebrate the blessings of this season, our hearts are full of gratitude for the Pulidos and thought you might enjoy hearing from them how OneFamily, in particular our class made an impact on them and their community.
Christmas blessings to you and your family!
¡Bendiciones de Navidad para ti y tu familia!
