What does a healthy and thriving family look like? Certainly, there are many answers to this question, but we believe at the heart of a thriving family is a healthy marriage and effective parenting. It is an encouraging home environment where children flourish with everyone feeling emotionally and spiritually fulfilled in each other’s company.
This holiday season, we’ve shared some wonderful success stories from parents that received equipping and encouragement from OneFamily – from Classes to daily quotes to our Tuesday Letters to one-on-one Mentoring. All these parents and their stories share a common thread. They all invested in their family! This week, the Johnsons share with us how investing in their family has paid off:
We are so grateful that our friends told us about OneFamily classes. They had encouraged us for a while to sign up, and we were a bit hesitant because they were on Zoom rather than in person. But we felt the Lord’s nudge to sign up and we are so glad that we did because it has blessed our marriage and family in many ways.
We have three young boys that are close in age. We had been struggling with some behavioral problems and didn’t really know what was causing it or how to fix it. We had been parenting them the best we knew how. Often, we defaulted to the parenting styles of our own parents as that is what we knew best. But that meant we weren’t always on the same page which led to inconsistency. As we began taking OneFamily classes, we realized that we needed greater alignment and consistency in our approach. This has made all the difference! We can see how it helps our boys and has benefited our marriage as well.
We look forward to attending our parenting class each week and have enjoyed getting to know other parents in the process. There is a sincere compassion for each of the parents in our class and a genuine desire to help us implement all that we are learning.
This past summer, we were feeling a bit discouraged and had some specific parenting challenges come up. We reached out for some help and scheduled some one-on-one time. They talked us through the different scenarios and offered great insights and practical advice on how to tackle those tough situations. We are grateful for their time and expertise to help us take what we are learning and apply it in our everyday life.
The Johnsons are a wonderful example of what investing in family looks like. Like many parents, they tried to be the best parents they could, but realized they were missing the tools and resources they needed to create the family and home environment they desired. Since participating in all the different OneFamily resources, their investment continues to pay off for them.
