Young parents and even experienced parents cannot anticipate the wide array of challenges that come with raising their children. Many couples are “winging it” and can be blindsided by children’s unexpected emotions, behaviors and logistical issues that arise. In these stressful moments, any parent can feel overwhelmed and frustrated and their best intentions go out the window. This is when parents wish they had been laying a solid foundation for their marriage and children early on, so that there would be fewer problems to deal with when it really counts. Making the investment in the family through parenting and marriage classes/workshops, can sustain you with confidence and joy during challenging times. Confident Moms and Dads know they can handle anything that comes up. Even when Dad needs to take over with three children under the age of four. Here is Cole and Morgan’s story:
We have been so richly blessed by OneFamily over the past couple of years. We know that there are many classes still in our future as we navigate raising our three boys – 4, 2.5, 1 and our fourth child due in April. We first took the Parenting from the Tree of Life course at our church when we had just one child, 14 months old. We may have been jumping the gun a little! However, since, we have taken the class again and the Toddlerhood Transitions class too. Every time we take away something new, inspirational, practical and beneficial for our family.
We wanted to share an event that sticks out in our minds from this summer. Our oldest son participated in a soccer program with a few of our family friend’s kids. Our initial thought was it would be a fun weekly activity for the entire family; go to soccer, then picnic with the other families and let the kids play outside until bedtime. We thought this was a great plan until we realized we had double booked our schedule! Without realizing it, we scheduled soccer for the same nights as mom’s tennis. Thinking that this would be a lot for dad or either parent to take on alone, but that didn’t stop Cole. He gladly took the boys to soccer. It was a real testament to what OneFamily has taught us and what we continue to implement daily with our kids. With this experience, our friends were sure to tell us not once, but multiple times how impressed they were with the kids and their behavior. It’s so refreshing to know we could count on our little boys to rise to the occasion and be a blessing to others too. There are a lot of lessons we have learned from OneFamily and our children have taken well to the instruction and leadership skills that these classes have instilled in our lives. A few of the key components consist of the following: choosing our words wisely and following through, first time obedience, teaching and requiring respect, following our routine and consistency.
We hope you will find the value and commitment to join us in supporting OneFamily with your time and financial gifts. We have found more value in the investment in our family and in OneFamily than we could have imagined before we started! The Lord knows how much we have been blessed by the OneFamily content and counsel, and we are thankful for the lessons we’ve been able to teach our boys as we seek to achieve the best for them.
