Sometimes we can feel like we are winging it as parents. The demands and pressure of life can get so overwhelming that we can get sidetracked from those meaningful things our hearts desire – like being a good intentional parent. In desperation, when we often look for the one thing or a quick online resource to help us to put a “Band-Aid” on whatever issue of the day we’re dealing with in the moment. All the while, we keep thinking (hoping) that we’ll have time later on to properly address our issues with our children.
Intentional parenting is not a quick fix, but once you become equipped with a few practical tools, you’ll be able to put a parenting strategy in place that will sustain you and prevent you from getting sidetracked when life’s busyness gets in the way.
This summer, we had a wonderful couple reach out to us. They were definitely overwhelmed and had gotten sidetracked in their parenting and their marriage was feeling the strain. Little did we know, they had just moved to the US from India…
We write to you with tears in our eyes. Tears of joy and delight with much gratitude in our hearts for OneFamily. We have three children – A 7 year old boy, 5 year old girl, and an 18 month old baby girl.
Moving across the ocean, to a new continent, culture, and people group, while not having any family around for help and support, we found ourselves overwhelmed and frustrated trying to parent our little ones. We had read lots of books and blogs in the past, watched multiple videos, attended many seminars, and have also been brought up by amazing parents (both of us), however none of that was helping us and we knew something was missing.
Thankfully we found out about OneFamily and it came at a time when we were desperately looking for a different kind of help from what we have had in the past. They have given us tools, ideas and encouragement that has made a remarkable difference in our parenting and marriage.
Over the past couple of months, we have been SO richly blessed by OneFamily. Even before we started the classes, my husband and I were able to reach out to the Howards one on one via zoom since we live in California. Every time we had individual calls with them or were on a class call with them, it always felt like they were rooting for us. They genuinely wanted the best for us, selflessly giving of themselves, their learnings from life, wanting us to benefit from their life experiences, and it felt as if their ultimate reward would be to see us grow, develop, and succeed as a family.
The classes, personalized help, daily quotes and weekly letters of encouragement has impacted us so much that we had to share OneFamily with friends back home in India. Since then, they couldn’t stop thanking us for introducing them to this wonderful resource and for how they felt loved, heard, and understood. That family is thriving today!
Our home is filled with peace, joy, understanding, and grace. We wake up excited, we wake up happy and hopeful because we have been given keys to enrich and enhance the way we live. These teachings are priceless and we plan to continue doing more classes. We know that parenting is an ongoing process and, when there is accountability involved, we believe learning becomes more intentional.
OneFamily has marked our lives and the best we can do to give back is to carry it forward by sharing what they have done for us!
We love this family! In addition to this heartfelt testimony, they also shared countless examples of how they are more intentional with their parenting and that could be a whole letter unto itself. The bottom line is that they took the initiative to “put a stake in the sand” and become intentional and purposeful in their parenting. Now their family life is flourishing.
Equipping, encouraging and sustaining moms and dads is our mission with OneFamily. Coming alongside families like the Georges and yours, is who we are and what we do.
In the past five years, OneFamily has been able to:
- Directly impact 7,500+ families with seminars, classes, and personalized care.
- Reached and impacted over 2.4 million families through our website and social media.
Each day, we are mindful of the impact OneFamily has on moms, dads and their children. This doesn’t happen without you! While we have been blessed with some funding from a few foundations, we rely primarily upon the financial giving from individual donors for our projects, growth, and sustainability – and we need your help!
